Folk – Will Finn & Rosie Calvert + Odette Mitchell + Clarke Camilleri
Husband and wife duo, Will Finn and Rosie Calvert, are singers first and foremost. Their voices complement in that way family performers do, with aural choices made by gut before ear, instinctively knowing when to twist and turn for listener intrigue and honed through years of singing about the house, in the car.
Will and Rosie are both graduates of the Folk and Traditional Music BA at Newcastle University and their a capella harmony quartet The Teacups has been taking the folk festival circuit by storm for the past eight years, performing all over the UK and beyond. Their duo work is met with accolades wherever they go, and their debut album, ‘Beneath this Place’ is being critically lauded as ‘Distinctive’ and ‘Excellent’.
Odette Michell is a British Folk Singer and Songwriter with a stunning new take on the acoustic tradition and a voice capable of demonstrating the finer points of both folk and traditional song with genuine craftsmanship. Born in Yorkshire with an Irish heritage, Odette grew up in a musical household and first picked up the guitar at fifteen. Odette’s first full length album, produced by Stu Hanna from award winning folk duo Megson, will be debuted in April 2019 and features musical contributions from Phil Beer and Toby Shaer.
New Roots 2017 and 2018 finalist Clarke Camilleri is a troubadour, song writer and poet. He is part of a new generation of folk singers who want to bring on the new with an appreciation of the old. He aims to sing with the past, but write for the present and is also probably one of the youngest Folk Club organisers in the country.
