On July 1st 1916, Walter was ordered ‘over the top’ into the carnage of the Battle of the Somme. This is Walter’s story.

Written by Alison Raymond, the play has two main characters, four musicians/singers and a special effects operator. In 60 minutes, this company of seven tells the story of Walter Harvey Hallam and his adventures and experiences of signing up to serve as a soldier in World War One.

This production mixes dramatic, humorous and sensitive elements throughout and includes many folk songs.
