Folk – The Moorcrofters & Lizzy Hardingham + Missing Richard
The Moorcrofters are Nigel Moorcroft (Lead vocals and bad jokes), Ellie Hill (Violin and Vocals) and Steve McClennon (Guitar and vocals). They will be featuring Nigel Moorcroft’s song ‘Bricks’, the winning song from the 2019 ‘Write a new Roman song for St Albans’ competition as well as performing songs from England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada and the USA, as well as. Nigel’s winning song was inspired by a visit to a museum in Bedford which had a section on brick making. That set him off writing about the Roman bricks that have been re-used down the ages in St Albans and the ethnically diverse people who have used them.
The concert is a double bill, also featuring the competition organiser Lizzy Hardingham, herself a gifted song writer, who has been described as a “rising star on the UK folk scene with songs that sing straight to the heart”. Her powerful yet pure voice twinned with her impressive songwriting skills meld together to create “beautifully delivered folk music” and she has stormed the UK club and festival scene, including Cambridge Folk Festival, in 2019.
New Roots finalists, ‘Missing Richard ‘consists of Tom on accordion, and partner Harri on violin. They play tunes from a variety of places, including but not limited to England, Quebec, and Sweden, as well as some self-penned tunes.
