Folk – The Dovetail Trio & Granny’s Attic
The festival concert is an exciting double bill in which the acclaimed Dovetail Trio is joined by Granny’s Attic, a newer trio with a rising reputation.
Presenting England’s traditional songs with a bold and fresh approach, The Dovetail Trio explores familiar narratives with infectious energy and a passion for musical heritage. The collaboration combines the distinctive voices and acclaimed instrumental talents of BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominee Jamie Roberts, BBC Performing Arts Award winner Rosie Hood, and singer and melodeon, mandolin and fiddle player Matt Quinn.
The members of Granny’s Attic, Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne, George Sansome and Lewis Wood started playing together at secondary school and continue to make waves as a trio after having gone their separate ways to study music at university and play with a range of other musicians. Their CD ‘Off the Land’ was released in 2016 and they are in growing demand to play at festivals.
The concert will open with a display of dances by Spånga Folkdansgille from Sweden and will include sets by Julian Mount, winner of the 2017 Watford Folk Club Songwriting Competition and by a finalist from New Roots 2018.
