Folk – The Daria Kulesh Quartet, Ben Moss & Bow by Bow
Daria Kulesh, a Hertfordshire-based singer of Russian and Ingush heritage, is becoming increasingly known on the UK folk scene nationally. Her debut album, Eternal Child, received enthusiastic reviews and was followed by a second album Eternal Home, which has won awards in the UK and Russia. This is her first appearance in St Albans with her new band, the Daria Kulesh Quartet. In it, Daria is joined by leading young acoustic guitarist Tristan Seume, pianist Marina Osman from Belarus and hammered dulcimer player, Kate Rouse.
Ben Moss is well-versed in the folk traditions of England, and of his home county of Devon. Singing both traditional songs still relevant to our lives and original songs written to address the challenges we face in our society today, Ben accompanies himself on the fiddle, the melodeon, concertina and bouzouki and is about to release his debut album, ‘Lost Lands’.
New Roots finalists, Bow by Bow, consist of Noah Walton on fiddle and Alex Duncalf on cello. They have been busking on Oxford’s streets for five years, traditional English, Scottish, Irish and Breton tunes.
