Folk – Odette Michell + Chris Fox & Heather Ferrier

31st January - 20.00 Book

Odette Michell is a British folk singer-songwriter, guitarist and bouzouki player with a bold new take on the acoustic tradition and a voice capable of demonstrating the finer points of both folk and traditional song with genuine craftsmanship.

Born in Yorkshire with an Irish heritage, Odette grew up in a musical household and first picked up the guitar at fifteen. Inspired by the resurgence of folk and acoustic songwriters at the time, she began writing her own songs when she was just sixteen years old.

Growing up in the vibrant city of Cambridge allowed Odette to take advantage of the many stages and performance venues there. Now based on an 18th century dairy farm in the Hertfordshire countryside, Odette draws on these rich influences and life experience and weaves them together to form the basis of many of her songs. In 2019, she released her debut album ‘The Wildest Rose’, to critical acclaim. She is currently embarking on her own national solo tour in support of her first full length album.

Award winning singer songwriter Chris Fox is an independent musician who has worked his way through the Cambridge music scene during the past few years, each year acclaiming greater presence at an increasing number of stages and festivals, including Cambridge Folk Festival. His music reflects thought provoking topics and humorous insights on life with deep powerful vocals and varied and eclectic guitar styles that span the roots lexicon of Americana, Folk, Country and Blues.

Heather Ferrier is an Accordionist and Clog Dancer based in the North East of England. Originally from Stockport, Heather began her musical education as part of the Fosbrook Folk Education Trust in which she learned accordion, piano and clog dancing. With them she has travelled and performed at festivals across the UK and Europe. Heather then did the Folk and Traditional music degree at Newcastle University, graduating in 2018.  She now plays in several bands in the area.
